| A flow conditioning system has been produced for the turbojet/turbofan rig for use in certain types of test. This system includes a mixer to even-out profiles in the exhaust flow and reduce the swirl levels to zero. A cruciform rake measures the residual temperature profiles in the exhaust. This system can then be used to control carefully the exhaust flow entering a new nozzle design fitted to the engine thus providing better understanding of the nozzle performance.
Whilst both the turbojet and turboshaft engine rigs are manually operated, the engine parameters are measured using a dedicated computerised data logging system.
The GETL provides an affordable approach to development of new aerospace propulsion technologies.
