ATI Case Study

SANTANA

The Aerospace Technology Institute held its inaugural conference in November 2017, championing the innovation supported by ATI funding and looking into the future of aerospace. Durin the conference, the ATI unveiled seven case study films which highlighted the activities of successful collaborations. The SANTANA project (System Advances in Nacelle Technology AerodNAmics) was chosen as one of the case studies.

SANTANA was a collaboration lead by Bombardier Belfast and involving S&C Thermofluids and the Aerospace Research Association as industrial partners, and City University and Imperial College London as aerodynamics research teams. S&C designed and manufactured three test rigs which studied various aspects of nacelle system performance. The company was delighted to have been approached to take part in the filming of the ATI case study, as it showcases the potential of the Kemble Engine Test Facility.
