Press Release: SANTANA

System Advances in Nacelle Techology AerodyNAmics

The programme is led by Bombardier Aerospace, Belfast. Programme partners comprise UK industrial organisations (ARA and S & C Thermofluids) and aerodynamics research teams (City University, London and Imperial College, London).

The SANTANA project is a collaborative programme focused on the development of aerodynamic technologies related to the design of advanced ultra-high bypass ratio powerplant nacelles. The programme targets nacelle components for next generation aircraft.

SANTANA builds upon recently completed nacelle related technology development programmes within the UK, including EFE (Environmentally Friendly Engine) and SYMPHONY (SYstem Manufacturing and Product design tHrough cOmponent Noise technologY).

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT COVER 4 MAIN TOPICS;

  • External Aerodynamic Drag Reduction
  • Reduced Performance Losses
  • Multi-disciplinary Optimisation and Integration
  • Design Validation
