Computer Aided Design

The Computer Aided Design (CAD) packages used by the company include IronCAD, TurboCAD and Rhino. These provide a range of 3D solid and surface modelling, 2D drawing and interfacing capabilities. Most CAD formats such as IGES, DXF and STEP can be handled through these interfaces.

The CAD packages are used in the first instance to convert conceptual designs into 3D solid models of the item being developed.

The solid models can then be used in CFD studies or to construct demonstrator prototypes for experimental work using the facilities available through the Stobart Division.
