The ability to construct prototypes and test pieces to demonstrate and validate systems is a key part of S & C Thermofluids work. The experimental facilities and the items that are tested using them are constructed by the Stobart Division in Redruth, Cornwall.

With highly skilled technicians, conceptual designs are transformed using CAD into manufacturing drawings. Construction of test rigs and test pieces is carried out using a full range of manufacturing techniques which include:

  • Turning
  • Milling
  • Sheet metal fabrication
  • Welding

In addition to the ability to produce test pieces, the Stobart Division provides all the maintenance requirements for the Gnome engines of Dstl’s GETL. Engine repair, overhaul, assembly and commissioning are all carried out by the Stobart Division.
